Modern English Grammar में Articles को Determiners के अंतर्गत रखा गया है।
Demonstrative (ठोस) Adjectives के समान कार्य करने वाले 'A' , 'An'
तथा The' को articles कहते है।

Difference between Article and Adjective
Article और Adjective के बीच मुख्य अंतर यह है कि
Adjective को Noun के साथ या स्वतन्त्र रूप ( Independently) से प्रयोग किया जा सकता है।
लेकिन Article को Noun के बिना प्रयोग नहीं किया का सकता है

He is a good man or say, "He is good".
He is a man, but we can not say "He is".

An article is 'an' 'Adjective' or a Determiner' which
Indicates whether the 'Noun' is definite or Indicate ;
They impart effectiveness. and accuracy to the Nouns.

She is girl
He is an intelligent boy.
He saw the doctor (विशेष))

2. The Position of Article
1, Article का प्रयोग Noun से पहले किया जाता है यदि
Noun के पूर्व कोई Adjective आता है तो Adjective से पहले Article को रखा जाता है
और यदि Adjective से पूर्व कोई Adverb आता है तो
Article का प्रयोग Adverb से पहले करते हैं।[Sub+V+ Article+Adverb+Adjective+Noun]

She is a girl. (Article + Adjective)
She is an ugly girl. (Article +Adjective +Noun)
She is a very ugly girl. (Article + Adverb + Adjective - Noun)

सामान्यतः Adverb and Adverb Phrases के बाद Article का प्रयोग होता है, जैसे
Many,
Such,
What,
All,
Both,
Double,
Half,
Rather,
Exactly,
Quite, Just,
Many a man,
Such a task,
What a book,
All the students,
Both the teachers,
Double the amount,
Half an hour,
Rather a cold weather,
Exactly the same,
Just the rather moment

3.यदि किसी Adjective से पहले following Adverbs etc हो तो
Article को Adjective को पहले भी रख सकते हैं और बाद में भी, जैसे:
So
Too
How
As
So serious an attempt/A so serious attempt.
Too exact an answer or a too exact answer.
How beautiful a night!
It's so good an attempt

NOTE : ऐसी अवस्था को पहले या बाद में रखना दोनो ही सही हैं।
पर Article को Adjective के बाद रखा जाए तो और भी अच्छा है।
क्योंकियह प्रयोग से अधिक है और आसान भी तथा स्वभाविक भी मालूम पड़ता है।
'a' और 'an' की position उनके आने के बाद शब्दों के द्वारा तह की ह
जाती है।

3. Kinds of Article
Articles

Definite Articles
       The
Indefinite Articles
An

'A' और 'An' Indefinite Articles कहलाते हैं क्योंकि वे कहे गये व्यक्ति अथवा वस्तु को अनिशिचत दर्शाते हैं।
इनका प्रयोग Indefinite Singular Countable Noun के पूर्व किया जाता है।

Examples:
A popular leader died in an accident.
She has a toy.

'The' Definite कहलाता है क्योंकि यह किसी विशेष व्यक्ति अथवा वस्तु को दर्शाता है।
'The' का प्रयोग Singular Countable, Noun, Plural Countable Noun और Uncountable Noun सभी के पूर्व किया जाता है
यदि वह निश्चित हो, विशेष हो, या जिसकी चर्चा (carry to back) पहले की जा चुकी है। जैसे:--

Examples:
The girl in the pink dress is my daughter.
Neha bought a sari, The sari was very beautiful.

An Interesting Fact: Articles का दो रूपों में उच्चारण किया जाता है।
Weak forms/Strong forms. Consonant से पारम्भ होने वाले शब्द के पहले प्रयुक्त होने वाले 'the' को 'द' तथा vowel के साथ the को 'दि' पढ़ा जाता है। जैसे:/
This is the / दि / Girl who topped in the dance competition.
इसी तरह a का उच्चारण अ , an का उच्चारण 'एन' किया काटा जाता है

a
an
ऐन
ऐन
the
द–दि
दी

विद्यार्थियों को ध्यान रखना चाहिए कि English Grammar में Article 'a' का प्रयोग मुख्य रूप से ध्वनि (sound) द्वारा निर्धारित किया जाता है, जैसे–
1, व्यंजन (Consonant) से शुरू होने वाले शब्दों (words) के पहले 'a' Article का प्रयोग किया जाता है, जैसे

A girl
      III. A child
        II. A pen
        IV. a woman
