जितना मनुष्य अधिक पढ़ा-लिखा होता है,वो उतना ही  मान करता है ।
जितना मनुष्य अधिक तीर्थ-यात्रा करता है, वो उतना ही कहता-फिरता है ।

लाखों ही पवित्र-गुण, शुभ-कर्म, पूण्य-दान, धार्मिक-स्थान पर तपस्या, जंगलों में प्रभु-मिलाप का अभ्यास, शूरवीरता व बहादुरी के कारनामें, मैदानों में सांस रोक कर रखना, ब्रह्म-ज्ञान,वेद व पुराण-पाठ,
कईयों ने केवल लोक-दिखावा करने के लिए धार्मिक-चिन्ह धारण किये हुए हैं।
सभी "अहंकार" का कारण बनती हैं।

हे नानक! जिसने यह संसार बनाया है और आवा-गमन लिखा है, उस सर्जनहार के आगे सभी अक्लमंदी व्यर्थ हैं सच तो है "रहमत का चिन्ह" ।
